Helen Norton

Australian artist (b. 1961)

In 2000 and 2001 I worked with artist Helen Norton on a number of prints. They are both amusing and insightful. Helen describes herself as a reporter of the human condition. She notes, “there is always a hidden agenda in my work."

Paints to examine, to undo questions

Norton does not see herself as a decorative artist. She says;

”I paint to examine, to undo questions and I hope that people who view my work learn from it too. Whatever level they’re at, their own life’s experiences will tell them how to read my paintings."

Helen Norton has become one of Australia's most well received artists. Her work is included in many major private and international collections.
