eStudio Editions is now running workshops.

I will be taking one day workshops teaching a range printmaking techniques.

For beginners there will be some printing en plein-air that can be done easily back in your own studio/home without a press or specialist equipment.

I will also teach advanced woodblock, collagraph and colour techniques.

My wife Tracy Smith is an award winning artist. She will be teaching fresco techniques with contemporary materials, and traditional formulas for painters including egg tempera, traditional gesso etc.

If you want to stay in the area local accommodation is available through the Scotland Island Lodge or Pittwater Youth Hostel.

I will lead a small group through an easy walk in the Kurin-gai National park. drawing inspiration from the local textures to create innovative prints.

Colloblock printing

August 21 st

Over the years I have developed a technique called colloblock, which is a combination of collagraph and woodblock. I will demonstrate how to make your own inks from pigment as well as lead each student through the process of creating their own multi-colour colloblock print.

Beginners Intermediate or Advanced

Tracy Smith will be teaching this enduring technique using contemporary and easily available materials. She will give a brief overview of the history and give students the opportunity to explore a few different techniques.

(fresco, secco, scraffito etc) The workshop will be in her studio on Scotland Island.

Still Life in Egg Tempera

August 11th &12th 10am-4pm

$120 All materials will be provided.

Beginners Intermediate or Advanced

Tracy Smith will lead the students through this traditional painting technique. Grinding the pigments into egg yolk and applying them onto a traditional gesso ground to create a still life painting that explores the glowing colours of this medieval process.

The government has engaged Copyright Agency Ltd (CAL) to manage the artists’ resale royalty scheme. The scheme will provide artists with a 5% royalty on certain commercial resales of $1,000 or more that occur after 8 June 2010.

This does NOT affect eStudio Editions as the prints we sell are produced by us in conjunction with the artists and have not been bought or sold before.

I have had my colloblock print “ Akky’s Dream” selected for the prestigious International Pacific Rim Print Exhibition this year. to be opened in September 15th in Christchurch New Zealand.

This prestigious exhibition was established by the University of Hawaii at Hilo, USA. It has been located at the University of Canterbury since 2008. In 2008, more than 200 artists entered the exhibition, with 37 works from artists from the nations of New Zealand, Australia, Japan, China, Canada, Russia and the United States of America selected to be exhibited at the SOFA Gallery, Christchurch.

I have been working on creating a suite of new colloblock prints based on the Pittwater where I live. The skies lately have been quite incredible and I wanted to explore the variations between soft, warm tones of a misty sunrise and the sometimes extraordinary bold and brashy sunsets.

Artists David van Nunen and Craig Waddell are finalists in the prestigious NSW Parliament's Plein Air Prize. The judge this year is Anita Taylor, Director, National Art School.

The winner will be announced on the 19th May at a Gala dinner at Parliament House.

Buying art from my website is a friendly experience. Unlike buying a book or a gadget on the Internet, I personalise each purchase. Each package leaving my studio includes the unique story of the print and its creation. In my opinion connecting with the workshop where the artist and I collaborated, and understanding the print’s processes first hand is invaluable for the buyer.
